Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid unveiled the new covers of the Bashundhara Khata at the Golden Jubilee celebration of Narinda Govt. High School in the old part of the capital on Saturday.
Of the two new covers of the Bashundhara Khata, one cover features the portraits of seven Bir Shresthas while the other displays the map of independent Bangladesh.
AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul, a former student leader and president of the school alumni association, presided over the golden jubilee celebrations and Md Saiful Islam Helaly, chief marketing promotion officer of Bashundhara Group, attended the Bashundhara Khata cover launching ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Nurul Islam Nahid said, “Presently, there are one lakh primary schools, 28,000 secondary schools, 15,000 madrasas, 12,000 colleges and 112 universities in the country and more than four crore students are studying there. This figure tells us about the real scenario of progress in the education sector of Bangladesh.”
He also said, “This government has succeeded in enrolling 99 percent of children in schools. Now, our challenge is to help them continue their study by any means.”
The education minister asked the students to be equipped with world-class education and technologically sound to achieve greater successes for the country.
Dr Kamal Abdul Naser, public administration secretary, former and present students of the school and freedom fighter attended the golden jubilee celebrations.
Later, Bashundhara Group distributed Bashundhara-brand Khata among the students of the school.
